The best things we bought in September

Spring has sprung, bringing mid-season deals, big shopping events ahead, and preparation for Christmas and any unfortunate December birthdays.
But that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped shopping for ourselves. This month, we’ve leapt into some spring cleaning with a special sponge, spring fever with a floral fragrance, and other products bringing colour and pizzazz.
Check out our top buys for the month of September!

“Years ago a colleague gave me some Chanel Gardenia perfume. It’s one of the ones only sold at some Chanel counters and I remember it was £80 – a lot!  I still have a tiny bit left which I rarely use, but I saw it at Sydney airport recently and remembered how lovely it is. I googled and found out that it’s now $660 a bottle.
That was way too much, so I did some research. On Reddit, people were talking about similar, much more affordable perfumes. As I have Amazon Prime right now, I decided to order one. Cue Elizabeth Taylor Gardenia for $30. It smells exactly the same! I even got my husband to do a blind test and he picked the wrong one. You might say ‘it won’t last as long on the skin’, but the Chanel one didn’t really last that long either!” – Sarah.
“As someone who is ‘challenged’ in the height department, I will take any platform I can get. These Adidas Gazelle Bold sneakers not only give me extra height, but also hit the mark of being on-trend and colourful!” – Sindy.

“I love this whole ‘no makeup’ makeup trend because I don’t like wearing too many products on my face. I also like creams and liquids as opposed to powders, which have started caking in my fine lines (no thank you!). I deliberated over this product for a while, given it’s quite small and quite spendy, but finally caved in and got the CabanaGlow SPF50 Mineral Luminizing Blush Serum from Naked Sundays. It’s such a pretty colour, and so wildly pigmented that I can get a full cheek’s worth of blush from just a drop. It gives you a sweet, flushed look without the pressure of actual physical activity.” – Erin.
“This month I purchased a pink Scrub Mommy and it’s been an amazing addition to my kitchen. I love the combination of the soft sponge and textured pink side for scrubbing. The textured side has been perfect for tough stains on my frying pans, especially as it’s designed to get firmer in cold water and softer in warm water. The Scrub Mommy has already outlasted any other sponge I have purchased, and I also just found out you can sanitise the sponge in a dishwasher or microwave to make it last even longer.” – Jessi.
“With summer fast approaching, my skin needs a refresh – it’s been hiding away under my matching tracksuits for too long. So every September I spend the month searching for a new exfoliator that will rid my body of its dead skin cells and give my skin the refreshed, hydrated glow it deserves. I’ve been using this Epzen body scrub three times a week for a month now and I’m already a huge fan. My process is simple: I stand under the warm water to open up my pores and then go in with the scrub all over (except my face, I have a special exfoliator for that). Since I started using it I’ve noticed a change in the texture of my skin and how easily my moisturiser glides on and absorbs into my skin post-shower. I highly recommend it”. – Carina.
