The fabric however is vintage and has been "upcycled" from the tradtional way it was worn, The sewing was mostly done by the tribespeople as a way to earn extra income. it is rather rudimentary, however it adds to the honesty of the piece. I have washed it with The Laundress detergent (mild) deiicate cycle in the washing machine. No problems with the color.

    Vest/ Gilet "Upcycled" from Vintage Vietnamese - Hill

    These tribes live in
    the
    mountains bordering
    Vietnam and China and have done
    for centuries.
    This Unisex garment is made from hand spun and handwoven cotton/hemp.Natural indigo dye is used. There are also colorful hand embroidered panels.
    This was purchased in the mid-1990's from the tribespeople. "Upcycling" their traditional vintage clothing gave the women a way to earn some extra money for their families.
    It has black cloth frog buttons in the front.
