    Description

For auction is a wonderful arts and crafts inkwell made by The Grueby Pottery Company of Boston, Ma. The inkwell is done in one of Grueby's hard to find and sought after "Ochre" glaze. The inkwell has some size as it stands 5 1/8" tall. The inkwell is not perfectly square as it measure 3 7/8" x 4" at the bottom. The round reservoir is 3" in diameter.
The inkwell displays a geometric bottom with a pyramid shaped top with square finial to lift the cover off the inkwell. The inside bottom shows a deep green waterproofing glaze so it would be a quick clean up when ink was spilled. The underside bottom is a dirty white and also has that waterproofing glaze. The clear round inkwell insert fits perfectly inside. The entire exterior that you can see is covered in a wonderful curdled "Ochre" glaze. You Grueby collectors know how rare this glaze is and to add to the excitement, its an inkwell! When was the last time you saw a Grueby inkwell? I cannot ever remember seeing one in 48+ years of being in the business.
This inkwell is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. It is not signed but there is no mistake to that Grueby collector as to who made this inkwell.
This is wonderful rare piece of art pottery is done in a beautiful and so commonly found Grueby glaze and form. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. This is truly a unique example.
I am assuming this inkwell is early say 1902-1905.

I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July of the year 2020.
I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments
. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the
    merchandise
    unless it is paid for.
    They are also n
ow charging all sellers a commission of 11.7% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 11.7%. This is an increase of 8.8% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 11.7% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.
If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
