the pin
i know very little about this pin. from the looks of it, it is hand made. the prongs of the stone settings are a gold color, which makes sense since that would be the gold color to enhance the color of emeralds. i think the stones are genuine because the green saturation and the amount of inclusions vary across the stones. the pearls pass the «tooth test». i think this pin is could be sterling silver but the metal doesn't have any tarnish, yet it doesn't look like a base metal. and it was alot of work to do the setting prongs in a different metal color and i believe those were made different to better accompany the green of the stones. the green of the stones could also be demitoid garnets because it just has that extra demitoid-garnet-specific green, especially the top three stones. the main body of the pin, if these are real stones and the prongs of the settings are gold, could be white gold. it has the right amount of «whiteness» to be maybe 14k white gold. but these are all guesses—i can't guarantee any of this. the pin is unmarked as far as i can tell. (i never understand why the maker wouldn't sign it: it is always so great to know.) the pin at it's widest is a little over 3/4" wide. from the bottom point of the heart to the highest point of one of the arches of the heart is just short f 1". i can find no defects and the pin closure is sound. in this case, almost all of the information is the photos, sp please take a look at those very carefully.
