Description
I am not certain of the date, but this is an older piece and looks to date from the 1920s to the 1940s. I'm guessing due to the appearance of the snaps and the skirt ruffles, 30s to 40sThe camisa (top) is fabricated in
Cañamazo, a starched open weave fabric made of abaca, and is
embroidered with velvet appliques and metallic threads.
It fastens down the center front placket with press snaps. There are additional snaps along the waist to attach the camisa (top) to the saya (skirt)
The stunning butterfly sleeves are shaped with pleats along the top of the sleeve cap.
There are darts for fit along the front and back waist and at the front neckline.
The saya (skirt) is fabricated in piña with metallic stripes
It fastens with press snaps at the side seam placket and has snaps at the waist to attach to the camisa.
The embroidered appliques from the top are mirrored on the skirt.
It has a train in the back and ruffles down the side seam.
Condition: Fair. The camisa is fragile. There are several breaks to the fabric of the camisa primarily along a fold line to the sleeve from storage, but also to the bodice . I made a small repair but left the others as they are. See the last few photos. The skirt seems to be sturdy. There are some light colored stains and a few small holes along the train. I made no attempt to clean either piece. There are no unpleasant odors.
